Georg had a men’s clothing factory (Nomburg & Co.) He lived in Coburg with his wife Charlotte and their children Harry and Manfred "Fredi" Nomburg. Georg's brother Hans and his wife also lived in Coburg.

Once the Nazis were elected into office in Coburg, our family moved to Berlin. They re-opened Nomburg & Co there. However they had no choice but to leave Germany. Uncle Fredi left for Palestine before Kristallnacht and Harry Nomburg (our father) escaped on Kindertransport to Scotland in May 1939. Hans and his wife Susi went to Chile. Unfortunately, our grandparents Georg and Charlotte perished in the Lodz Ghetto.

During WWII, Harry Nomburg joined the British Commando unit called “X-Troop.” He participated in the D-Day invasion. In 1948,he came to the United States where he served as a paratrooper with the 82nd Airborne Division. After military service he worked in the US Postal Service for 42 years. He married Beatriz on July 20, 1967. She lives in New York City.

At the mayor’s reception for Coburg’s holocaust survivors in 1988, Harry Nomburg got up to demand that the Memorial stone from the Coburg Jewish cemetery be moved to the center of town near the Judentor. He would be proud about the Path of Remembrance,

Harry and Beatriz's children, Eric and Sharon Nomburg, both live in California. Sharon lives in Truckee with husband John Boyer, son Drew Mellem Nomburg-Boyer (2015), and daughter Hannah Lola Nomburg-Boyer (2019).  Drew was named in honor of Harry as during Harry's time as a British commando, he changed his name to Harry Drew. Eric lives in Oakland.

In April 2025, Eric, Sharon, and their mother Beatriz had the honor of traveling to Coburg to be part of the descendent tour. Eric and Sharon shared our stories about our father Harry and his experience as a German Jew. It was very special and powerful. In the future, Sharon hopes to travel to Germany as a family so that Drew and Hannah can learn about their heritage and all that the Nomburgs endured.
